Advanced Archery

Archery is a game that takes hours of daily practice as well as tons of patience and perseverance. You need to invest a couple of hours daily to practice especially if this is your first time to play or learn the game. The basic skills of archery can be learned easily but more advanced techniques of shooting a bow may take years to master in order to harness the power of shooting an arrow. There are so many things to consider in playing archery in order for a player to be successful but one thing is absolutely sure: YOU CAN HAVE FUN in this game! Archery is a fun sport but a tough one to master. There are many errors that are common among beginners and even experienced archers. Correcting these errors will greatly improve your archery skills and accuracy.

Relaxation and concentration are important factors in archery that can help you shoot your target. If you do not know how to relax your arm and face muscles then it would be very hard for you to concentrate on your target. Chances are you will feel pressured and that you will lose concentration. So, you have to concentrate on your target and then learn to relax. To do this, you must also learn to breathing techniques. If your mind is racing and your breathing is short or irregular, then your goal would be unpredictable as well.

The best thing about this game is that it can be played outdoors or indoors. If you plan to play archery in your own home you must understand that Safety is always the highest priority when it comes to playing archery. You must be very careful when shooting arrows especially if there are kids around.

Nowadays there are so many archery clubs that can help you learn more about the sport as well as earn more friends who enjoy the same sport as you do. For the archery equipments, you shouldn't worry about where to buy this stuff because there are numerous shops online and in every street corner of the country. Many archery shops have indoor courts where you can test a variety of archery equipment and get a feel for the equipment before actually purchasing the item. If you are out of budget, you can simply rent archery equipments. Most archery clubs have equipments being rented out to their members, you can ask your local archery club about this.

The New and Improved Archery Sights

Archery sights are not the same as they were years ago. They have made some significant changes as one can see if they take a trip to the local pro shop. There are so many options to choose from in the way of archery sights. Each claims to have its own special benefits to it. What kind of criteria do you use to choose the right one for you? It might seem like a chore but with a little knowledge you can find one that will work best for your shooting style.

The More Advanced Choice

Most people tend to move toward the archery sights that are more advanced than the others offering all the amenities of the rest. Some sights are full of features that are not common to the other sights. If you choose this type of sight, you will be able to add it to the bow and make a better more accurate shot. Some models make sights that have not been seen before. There are a few that have come up with a way to remove the peep sight. This is for the shooter who is in it for good. The removal of the peep sight will allow you to make up for the lost shots that it took from you in the past.

The Other Options

The models of some archery sights offer the shooter two pins in the rear that are directly behind the front pin at a space of about six inches. When you use these archery sights to aim, the three pins need to be lined up with each other as if you were shooting a gun. When they line up, it is time to take the shot. If the pins do not become aligned, you will not be able to shoot until they are. This gives the shooter an accurate and consistent shot each and every time.

Lighting For Sights

The archery sights with a light are the new and greatest thing for night shooting. The light is built in to the sight and can be altered depending on the surrounding light. The sensor adjusts the light on the sight every 7 seconds to make sure it is perfect for the light around it. These archery sights will automatically adjust for bright lights by dimming and low lights by getting brighter.

LED Technology

LED technology is being put to use in the newest sights instead of using a pin to aim. The light is sent to a lens and reflected back to the sight. The benefits of using this sight are that you only have to see a tiny red dot and more of the target you are aiming at. These sights are set by using a multiple pin setup or a single pin setup. You can choose up to six pins at once. It can also be used like a pendulum sight that will adjust with the angle of the bow. These archery sights are waterproof and very durable for the hunter to use.

An Archery Question for All You Archers Out There?

Well I've only really shot a real bow once in my life around like 3 years ago and I loved it. I've been begging my parents to bring me to an archery range but they never really listened. So I want to buy a bow and some arrows for some target shooting at my backyard. I need a good bow that will last a long time. I'm willing to spend $150 (well that's really all the money I have) I've done some research and stuff and I've heard that you need a light bow, that a compound bow is more accurate then a re-curve bow and all those stuff. So please tell me which exact bow I should choose and if you can please also include the draw weight/length/price/and all those other things. Thanks a lot in advance if you can answer =]

Oh and I'm almost 13 and I live in Michigan, USA if that helps anybody.

For $150, it's a bit tough to get decent equipment. There are bows that go for about $100, one that comes to mind is the Great Tree Mohegan. Then you need some arrows, see if you can just buy half a dozen, arrows are usually sold by the dozen. Get some Easton Jazz arrows, dozen price is about $40 already made, so say $20 for half. Then you need arm guard and finger tab, say another $20 for those. You can also get arrow rest, get the Hoyt super rest, $3, still one of the best rest on earth.

A compound is easier to shoot than a recurve, this is true, they also cost more money.

Now here's the hard part, arrow size. You need to find out what your draw length is. To do that, you'll need to either go to an archery shop or a range. Good luck.

I really do suggest talking to your parents again. Don't beg, give them facts

- Archery is one of the safest sport out there, done properly it really doesn't get any safer than archery.
-Archery is an Olympic sport, there are many achievements that you can get by joining the sport.
- Archery is good for your focus. It teaches concentration.
