Bowhunting Equipment - A few Important Items
Some things you will need to be successful, well prepared bow hunter include many items that are available through Archery Country. The single most important item is your bow. Make sure you take the time to research and try out a few different bows before making a purchase. It is extremely important that you purchase your bow from a professional archery shop that can make sure your bow is set up correctly. Some basic tuning issues are often overlooked at many of your discount bow stores which can make a bow shoot very poorly. The more you can talk with successful or experienced bow hunters, the more you will learn. You can avoid some commons mistakes if you take the time and ask questions.
Hunting apparel is another important aspect of bow hunting. Today there some very high tech clothing companies that use carbon activated materials to help eliminate or cover human odor. They also make some very comfortable moisture wicking base layers that will keep you warm and out in the woods longer. Always avoid wearing cotton fabrics when bow hunting because cotton absorbs moisture and doesn’t dry very quickly. An hour sitting still after a long walk in the woods wearing cotton base layers will leave you miserable in cold weather.
Make sure you also pay close attention to the boots you buy. Having a comfortable, lightweight water proof boot can make the difference between spending time in the woods or packing it up early because your feet are frozen. I highly recommend that you avoid rubber boots because they do not allow your feet to breath. Once your feet sweat and the inside of your rubber boots are moist, there is no chance of keeping your feet warm in cold weather. There are a few new styles of boots on the market that have taken the rubber boot and made them much more breathable using some new materials. These boots seem to work okay, although sometimes there are issues with the waterproofness.

BOW & ARROW stats?
I have just received an older(??) archery bow..... it is a wooden 44inch model.
I have taken it to a local Archery service center who retightened the strings to "proper" tension.
I am a total *newbie* to the art of Archery so I am researching all I can about the POSSIBILITIES of this sport.
%What are the styles, types, and sorts of arrows (and tips) that are available for my newly attempted sport / hobby?
I believe this bow is a HUNTING model. - What (if any) *modifications* should I use to make this a SPORTING unit?
your bow sounds like a long bow its fine for hunting. Bow strength is measured in pounds if you can pull it back you can use it. 40 -45 for ladies men usually use 60 - 65 lbs. Length of arrow depends on how far you can pull most are about 26 - 28 inches. Target heads on arrows for practice, Broad heads are for hunting. A broad head has sharp razor blades 3 or 4, target heads are dull just for shooting foam or hay or cardboard. Most have went to compound bows that have pulleys. Easier pull but stronger release. Hunting Deer, and Turkey are most popular but the smaller the target the harder to hit. Good luck
Breaking down nuclear, Part 3
Vermont Yankee officials still have not been able to track down the source of leaking radioactive tritium. Tritium is something few of us had ever heard of before the leak and it may surprise you that it's found in some common items.
Thanks for visiting!
