Long Beach: El Dorado Park
Nothing is better than a few days off of work to relax and spend time with your friends and family. Additionally, many people love to spend those days off of at work enjoying being outdoors in beautiful weather and lovely scenery.
One great place to spend some time outdoors is on El Dorado Park. This park is extremely family friendly and boasts activities for all ages to enjoy. From archery to picnics, anyone in your family should be able to find an activity that they enjoy in the park.
One great thing to do with your kids in El Dorado Park is to bring in your remote control plane or boat to have a little fun. The park has designated areas for both of these activities and it can be a great way to bond with your children in the outdoors. You could try having races with others or just enjoy teaching the kids how to control the toys.
If you are looking for a ways to take your exercise routine outdoors, you might want to check out the physical fitness course at the El Dorado Park. It can be a real drag to try working out indoors on a beautiful day, so this is a great option if you want to try something new. It can also be a good idea to bring along a few friends to enjoy the workout with you and also so that you can push each other through the course. Another great physical activity that can be fun for all ages is bringing your bikes to hit the biking trail. This trail is over four miles long and can be a way to challenge yourself or to take a leisurely bike ride to enjoy the weather.
If you are looking for something a little more laid back and relaxing to do on your day off, you could plan a picnic to the park with a few friends, or even by yourself. This can be a great time to soak up some sun and enjoy a good book, or spend the afternoon eating and laughing with friends.
If you have a day off of work and are looking for something to do, or are visiting the long beach area on vacation, you might want to stop by this park to spend an afternoon. It is a great place to bring the family and have a picnic, or partake in any number of other activities.

Please help me: archery?
Hi, I want to get involved in archery, we have some land which is quite heavily wooded and would be good for field shooting. Obviously I am not going to rush out and but the first bow I come across, but what should I look out for, and avoid? I'd like a bow with quite a traditional appearance.
Also, is it the draw weight that determines a bow's power? What can be termed a high, or low, draw weight, I've seen one that I like with a DW of 90lbs, is this high or low? At what weight do bows become proper tools and not kid's toys?
Obviously I still have a lot of reading to do before I get practical but just wanted some initial guidance here.
Thanks
You actually don't need to do any reading at all. Your first step in archery is to join a local club, and to take a beginner's course. DO NOT BUY A BOW YET !!
The beginner's course at almost any club will teach you the safest way to handle a bow, together with etiquette, etc., and after you have done the course, you will have the knowledge required to choose what to do.
You can find a local club through your library, who should hold a list of clubs and organisations. Or you could look on the 'net (although that is not comprehensive). You could start at www.gnas.org.
ALL bows are dangerous: the bow was designed as a killing machine, for either battle or hunting for food. NO BOW IS A TOY !
I've been doing archery for about 17 years, and I have a 50 lbs bow, which I find difficult to draw. Join a club and use their equipment first.
Finally, I wish you good shooting. Archery is, imho, a great sport, and a wonderful part of Britain's heritage. See you on a shooting line sometime !!
