Now what you need is an FTA receiver which is compatible with high definition televisions. Your television is HD, so the FTA better pick up channels in high definition as well. You will however have to take care that the installation is perfect and once routed with the right equipment, you see them all---ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and PBS, in high definition. Weekends would never be the same again.

Are you done? Not quite. One more step. Go to the retailer and get yourself a satellite dish with a mounting kit. (You do not need to call Dish Network or Direct TV as they are paid satellite services). The mounting kit will have a manual and it will be your reading material for sometime now. You don't want to read that and keep referring to the page with a diagram and a whole lot of arrows?  Go ahead, log on to Google search. Things just got easier.

The dish needs to be mounted on the roof of your house or the balcony, if it is an apartment. It can also join the other garden stakes in your yard, perhaps in a corner. Where you would choose to place the dish will depend solely on the quality of the signal received. 

With the dish in place and in sync with your FTA HD receiver, you will be spoilt for choice. There will be the FTA channels along with all the local ones, yours to watch, for free. The last two words are like music to your ears. 

Now let's do a quick run-through of the cost-effectiveness of the whole process. Rounding off the price of the HD television, it comes to $500, the FTA receiver at $300 and the last buy was the satellite dish for $100. It comes to $900 and you are done. It gives you more channels than you have had so far, the reception is excellent and you pat yourself on the back for having got that HD television! 

Do I have to pay a hefty bill every month for this awesome contraption? A reply in the negative will set your fears to rest. It will bring a slight upward change in your monthly electricity bill, such that you will not feel the pinch. Cable or paid satellite service would start at a minimum of $100 a month and $1200 annually. You spent $900 and already saved a whopping $300. I can almost see that smile. 

Why just ponder on the expenses of this month or this year? Over time, you will be saving thousands of dollars. Television is up for the digital switch next month. Get that FTA receiver and the works. No missing the bus.

My itouch has frozen with a usb cable with an arrow pointing at the itunes logo, how do i unfreeze it?

When my ipod is plugged in, the computer recognizes it with the sound it usually makes but the picture never comes up. on occasions itunes will ask me to restore the ipod and i do but it always comes up with an error message saying "this ipod can not be restored an unknown error occurred."

anyway
1) Download the recovery firmware on itunes - should be 2.21
2) let it run - it wont work first time so dont worry.
3) Turn ipod off by holding Power and Home, hold 4 10secs
4) Let go and repeat step 3
5)Let go of power but not home and a white screen on ipod should appear after around 30secs
6)Click "Recover" and wait for it to finish
