Bow Tie Choices

At one time, it was almost possible to link the type of neckwear chosen by gentlemen to their class or status within a community. One only has to look at television series' based on years gone by to prove the point. The ever popular Inspector Poirot is seldom seen sporting anything other than a Self Tie Bow Tie, in a range of colours and patterns to accompany his baggy trousered suit and spats. Other wearers of Bow Ties as seen on our TV screens are Professors and Medical Consultants, again, holders of positions of status. For evening relaxation we often see the Lounge Cravat worn with the 'Noel Coward type' smoking jacket. For Evening Dinner Parties and social events, the Black Satin Self Tie or Pre-Tied. You could say that Bow Tie choices were, in the past, predictable.

But, as with many things present day, it is refreshing to see that 'conformance' has, in many cases, been replaced with 'preference' and it is now very much the choice of the individual as to the type of neckware they choose to go with their outfit rather than what is considered to be 'correct'.

Bow Ties have also become more popular as it is thought by some that they are more hygienic than neckties in that due to their high up neck position they are less likely to be contaminated by food and germs. Indeed, many hospital doctors are now wearing bow ties instead of neckties in order to avoid bacteria being picked up from one bed and transferred to the next bed when doing hospital rounds.

If you have decided to add bow ties to your range of neckwear you may be surprised and delighted to see how many choices of Bow Tie are available to you. Should you want something plain there is sure to be one in your colour choice either dark, light or pastel shades. Maybe something striped appeals to you in which case there are more formal two colour shades such as Navy and White, Black and White etc., or multi colour stripes for you to select. Many suppliers also stock the same design in choices of necktie, self tie bow tie or pre-tied bow tie so it is possible to ring the changes of an outfit by say wearing the necktie during the day event and switching to a bow tie for the evening event - same outfit - different look.

As the popularity of Bow Ties increases designers are becoming more daring in their offering of Bow Tie choices and are now introducing brightly coloured swirls, paisleys, multi-coloured microdots etc., and the wearer is sure to find one to match his outfit, be it formal or fun.

i own a bow, do i need a license?

some guy spazzed out because he saw me carrying a Bow Case. i have a compound bow. i didnt think i needed any paperwork/licenses, but after this guy spazzed out at me, im not 100% sure.

You do not need a license for a Compound Bow, the only time you need a license is if you are hunting with your bow.

Sounds like the spazzed out guy thinks that any type of hobby that is recreational needs licensing. Sounds like old "Spazzed Out Guy" needs some mental help therapy to be quite honest.
