well i just got a bow for christmas and its the browning micro midas 2 is that a good beginner bow?
its 40 pound draw weight
Marc is correct. Fit is everything. It's generally not a good idea to give a bow as a gift as the shooter needs to be there to see if it does fit and how it feels to shoot (Let your parents know that for future reference). If it does fit and it does feel good then you need to practice the right way to become a real dead-eye with it. There was an article in Field and Stream called "Never Miss Again" and it explained how to correctly handle and shoot a bow, shotgun, and rifle. It's worth a look, and you can find it on their website. Practice, practice, practice. When you get to where you're feeling really good put a soda cap from a 20 oz bottle onto your target with four golf tees and try to peg it at 20 or 25 yards. Aim small, miss small. Once you're doing that, move out a little bit at a time. Shouldn't take long. You'll be plenty ready for deer season in Northern NJ. On a side note -I read your other question- find someone to take you hunting and show you how to go about it. It's a pretty daunting task to tackle alone. Good luck, and keep practicing so you won't need it!

Former Congressman and current UM professor Pat Williams writes columns regularly, usually of the political variety, and sends them to local papers. This isn't one of those. Here, Williams takes a sweet look back at Mark Twain's connection to Montana, and a trio of anniversaries that occur this month.
