How much would you pay for a guitar?

When you buy your first guitar, you should know that they are sold for as little as $70. If you buy a used one, even cheaper. And there is practically no limit at the other end of the wallet. I spotted a Gibson J-250 the other day. $20.000 - a bargain! And the next day I saw a Martin D50 Koa Deluxe practically given away. The price tag: no more than $39.999!

So the decision is all yours. Whether you buy a cheap or expensive guitar doesn't really matter in the end. A cheap guitar is as good as any to practice on. But I suggest that you leave the very cheapest guitar where they are, unless you are certain that it is good quality. The reason is that you want to get a guitar that stays in tune all over the neck. And that is a problem with a lot of the cheapest guitars.

So I think you need to spend about 250-300 bucks for a classical guitar. A steel-string a little more.

Steel-string acoustic guitar or a classical guitar?

Or...you maybe want an electric guitar? "Nooooo" cries the pundits. But again - the choice is yours. Of course, if you want to study classic guitar the choice is a nylon stringed guitar. But in most cases it is a question of taste. What sound do you like? Make your choice from that.

Nylon string have a smoother sound than the western guitars. They are also a bit nicer to your fingertips. On the other hand they have a neck which is wider than the steel-string guitar. Could be a small trouble if you have very small hands.

As I stated before, you can choose the electric guitar as you begin to play. People have a way of saying "Buy a real guitar" to start with." But the electric guitar is very much a "real" guitar. Its strings are even easier to press down than the nylon strings. You will have to dig a little deeper into your treasure chest, though. The electric guitar doesn't produce so much sound without an amplifier. And make sure the strings are good quality - it is slightly more difficult to tune an electric guitar, and with no-good strings it's even harder to make the guitar sound good.

Conclusion

So it all comes down to this; As long as the guitar is of decent quality, buy the guitar you want to buy, based upon your likings, style.....and maybe your hands size.

Zachary Quinto of 'heroes' the Logical Choice for Spock?

A couple of months ago, rumors came about saying that Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar on Heroes, was expressing his interest in pursuing the role of Spock in Lost co-creator J.J. Abram's upcoming take on Star Trek. It is also rumored that later this month at the Comic Con in San Diego, Abrams will be announcing some casting commitments for the Star Trek film he is going to work on. Will Quinto be included on the list?

In a conversation with the Pittsburgh Post Gazette several months ago, Zachary Quinto first publicly expressed his interest in joining the cast of the upcoming Star Trek movie. Fans actually like the idea of having Quinto in the movie, although there haven't been any formal casting arrangements and negotiations.

Even if there aren't any official statements out yet, but there are in fact a few factors working in Quinto's favor. First on the list is the fact that Heroes co-star Greg Grunberg is a long time friend of Abrams. Second, Tim Kring has a lot of influential connections with the Star Trek production, such as his close ties with former co-worker and long time friend, Damon Lindelof of Lost. Thus, there may be a little string pulling here.

Connections and string pulling may be the way to go, but Quinto's biggest asset lies in the fact that he actually looks like Spock. It's not hard to imagine the thin framed, angular faced Quinto playing the cold and logical Spock.

Rumors have it that Abrams will be talking about two important topics in the Comic Con later this month. One would be the mysterious Cloverfield project which is causing the viewing public a stir, and the casting announcements for Star Trek.

The perpetrator of the rumor was found on Chud, which mentioned that Quinto was announced to be Spock, technically a tongue-in-cheek joke. Whoever started the rumor got fans thinking, and all they can do right now is wait for the Comic Con and for further official announcements.

i strung my racket at 60 pounds but my arm hurts when i play with it, my coach said its because i strung it too high

52 - 54 would be good. Go gut mains at 54 and Lux crosses at 52. You won't get as much spin as with Lux in the mains but the feel will be much better. Yeah 60 in that frame is bad. It plays like a board and is going to kill your arm and shoulder and perhaps your wrist. Looser stringing will have it playing better with more power but also more touch. Champions Choice is good string so you should notice an improvement. I used to string my Wilson ProStaff 85's at 64 - 66 and injured my shoulder, elbow, & wrist. Now I used Babolat VS Gut & Lux BB ALU Power Rough 16 at 52-54. Any higher will not relieve your pain enough in my opinion. 56 or 57 is still too close to 60 especially for the Lux.
