Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Sale Price: $2.75

Kevin Costner's lousy English accent is a small obstacle in this often exciting version of the Robin Hood fable. That aside, it's refreshing to have a preface to the old story in which we meet the robber hero of Sherwood Forest as a soldier in King Richard's Crusades, coming home to find his people under siege from the cruelties of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman). After Robin and his community of outcasts and fighters take to the trees, director Kevin Reynolds (Fandango, 187) is on more familiar narrative ground, and he goes for the gusto with lots of original action (Robin shoots two arrows simultaneously from his bow in two directions). Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, as Marion, makes a convincing damsel in distress, and Morgan Freeman brings dignity to his role as Robin's Moor friend. Alan Rickman, however, gets the most attention for his scene-chewing role as the rotten sheriff, an almost campy performance that is highly entertaining but perhaps a little out of sorts with the rest of the film. --Tom Keogh
In this large-scale swashbuckler, Kevin Costner plays the legendary archer hero who romances Maid Marian (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) and, with help from his Moor sidekick (Morgan Freeman), leads his Merrie Men against the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman). Christian Slater and Nick Brimble also star. 144 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital Surround stereo; Subtitles: English, Spanish, French; theatrical trailers.

Henry V

Very few films come close to the brilliance Kenneth Branagh achieved with his first foray into screenwriting and direction. Henry V qualifies as a masterpiece, the kind of film that comes along once in a decade. He eschews the theatricality of Laurence Olivier's stirring, fondly remembered 1945 adaptation to establish his own rules. Branagh plays it down and dirty, seeing the bard's play through revisionist eyes, framing it as an antiwar story. Branagh gives us harsh close-ups of muddied, bloody men, and close-ups of himself as Henry, his hardened mouth and willful eyes revealing much about this land war. Not that the director-star doesn't provide lighter moments. His scenes introducing the French Princess Katherine (Emma Thompson) are toothsome. Bubbly, funny, enhanced by lovely lighting and Thompson's pale beauty, these glimpses of a princess trying to learn English quickly from her maid are delightful. What may be the crowning glory of Branagh's adaptation comes when the dazed, shaky leader wanders through battlefields, not even sure who has won. As King Hal carries a dead boy (Empire of the Sun's Christian Bale) over the hacked-up bodies of both the English and French, you realize it is the first time Branagh has opened up the scenes: a panorama of blood and mud and death. It is as strong a statement against warmongering as could ever be made. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Robin Hood - Men in Tights

It's not Blazing Saddles, but there are some chuckles to be found in Mel Brooks's 1993 spoof of the Robin Hood legend. Cary Elwes is Robin (with a lighthearted jab at Kevin Costner's bad English accent in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves), while Richard Lewis plays an angst-ridden King John, and Roger Rees a snotty Sheriff of Nottingham. Comic David Chappelle has some good moments as the only black member of Robins's noble thieves, and Brooks does his own spin on Friar Tuck: Rabbi Tuchman. The song-and-dance sequences featuring a chorus line of the Merry Men ("We're men / men in tights") is vintage Brooks, but otherwise the film can't get any traction. --Tom Keogh
Mel Brooks flings an arrow at the Robin Hood epics of Kevin Costner and Errol Flynn and hits a bull's-eye in the ha-ha department. Cary Elwes is the fearless hero who battles the evil Sheriff of Rottingham (Roger Rees) for the future of England and the hand of Maid Marian (Amy Yasbeck). Richard Lewis, Dom DeLuise, Tracey Ullman, and Dave Chappelle (his film debut) co-star. 104 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital Surround, Spanish Dolby Digital Surround, French Dolby Digital Surround; Subtitles: English, Spanish; featurette; theatrical trailer.

which polarized glasses do you think is the best?
i need very good polarized glasses for archery when i go fishing for alligator gar. also people say the color of tint is specific to the color of the water so if u can please tell me what color it should be for lakes and rivers. thanks
Ok my answer will make some people mad probally but I don't care I answer from experience. First off if you are looking for a cheap pair that do a good job Renegade and strikeking are good. However the polarization will fade and peel off after a while. They are both under $15.
If you are a little more serious about a good pair of glasses here are a few good brands. Costa del mar- They make great glasses and lenses, if you break them they replace them for $50 to $75 depending on lens type. I own a pair w/ mirror blue glass lenses and use them in bright conditions. Guide line makes great fishing glasses, I have fishing buddies that own them and love em. I also own a pair of Hobies w/ amber lenses. They get more use than any. For around $60 they are great glasses. Lens color is important when fishing or being on the water. If you are Offshore in deeper water and bright conditions you will be better off with a Mirror blue or green lens. If you are in shallow water flats sightfishing and in lower light conditions then amber lenses will work better. I spend most of my time sight fishing for Redfish in less than 2' of water so I have to have a great pair of glasses. It's all about what suits you the best. You get what you pay for. People can say you're paying for a name or whatever but when you have money on the line you want the best, and after you have worn a good pair you see the difference. I would suggest Amber lenses for your situation. For more info email me
