These are just a few of the company traits that have contributed to Gerber's emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon's Gerber Advertising back in 1910, and one Christmas, he hired a local knife-maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939.It makes sense, really. An idea man gets the idea of a lifetime and turns it into a major outdoor brand--one that commands respect among knife lovers and knife makers alike. And now that same high regard is spreading in new directions, in the form of many outstanding products such as tools, personal L.E.D. lighting, and more. What's in the BoxGerber 22-41420 Gator Axe II with internal saw and nylon sheath. Featuring forged steel, and a rugged all-weather handle, this two-in-one axe and saw comes with a ballistic nylon sheath, and makes a great addition for the outdoorsman.

Would an archery arrow penetrate through 1"-thick carpet material?
i was planning on building a makeshift archery target by wrapping a tree with some carpet (my backyard is way too small and i don't wanna brake any arrows/damage any trees if i ever go out to a nearby creek). with the resources available to me, and the math worked out, there would be approx. 1" thickness (that includes the carpet and the rubber backing) wrapping around the tree.
would that be enough to stop an arrow, or would it go straight through and hit the tree? i have a 40-lb recurve bow using 40 lb-max arrows, and i usually shoot approx. 20-ft. away. i wanna be able to buy the carpet (used) with confidence and not waste any money.
Yes, it will penetrate the carpet and the tree. It will destroy your arrows. You are better off trying to find a large piece of styrofoam several feet thick. This will stop the arrow without damging it. You can buy archery targets for about $20 and may be able to find some cheaper at yard sales or similar places. Hay bales will stop your arrow but will ruin your fletching.

The latest DU conservation project involves Pluckeman’s Slough — a 1.5-mile stretch of backwater that links the Illinois River ...
