Guide to Excalibur Crossbows. A Crossbow for Every Hunter
Excalibur crossbows are known around the world for their great accuracy and speed. This guide will assist you in choosing the right Excalibur crossbow for your next hunt. Crossbows are great for a wide variety of hunters and are gaining popularity because they are easier to draw and shoot than standard compound bows. The crossbows that Excalibur produces are not designed by engineers but rather by hunters that use them in the field to make sure that you'll get the most out of your next hunt. With a few different models of crossbows offered by Excalibur everyone in your family will be able to shoot an Excalibur.
All of the Excalibur crossbows are made from durable recurve limbs that are molded from High Quality resin that gives them ultimate strength for years of consistent use. Excalibur's tradition of great quality crossbows has stood the test of time and has won the US National Crossbow Championships eight years in a row! So what are you waiting for? Take a look and see which crossbow below is the Excalibur for you.
Excalibur Vixen Crossbows – Small Framed Hunters
The Vixen is designed with the smaller hunters in mind. With a lower draw weight (150lbs) than your average Excalibur this crossbow will work great for any female or youth hunter. Shooting at speeds of up 285 FPS the Vixen is still strong enough to help you take down the large sized trophy bucks. This crossbow has a traditional stock so it will feel like holding a rifle. Offered in both camo and pink this crossbow will quickly become your favorite crossbow.
Excalibur Vortex Crossbows – Medium Power
This crossbow works great for almost every hunter and shoots at speeds up to 330 FPS so you can take down larger game. The draw weight of the Vortex is 200 lbs which makes it ideal for the hunter looking to upgrade from their first crossbow. Featuring a thumbhole stock this crossbow feels more like a pistol in your hand than a crossbow. Weighing in at only 6.3 lbs this crossbow is super light weight and ideal for carrying around from spot to spot without causing much strain. Only offered in Realtree AP HD camo with the Vortex you'll be able to blend in with your surrounding environment.
Excalibur Equinox Crossbow – High Power
If you are looking to hunt the largest game out there then this is the crossbow you'll want to get. With the ability to shoot at speeds of 350 FPS the Equinox is the most powerful Excalibur on the market. The Equinox has a smaller overall length than most crossbows with the same shooting power which allows it to produce a steadier more accurate shot. Featuring the same finish and stock as the Vortex the Equinox only weighs 1 ounce more!

real nice crossbow with no string don't know manufacture?
I will take it to a bow shop but how can I be sure I am getting good information? Is there some sort of math formula? with my bow relaxed it is 24 9/16'' from where the string would rest. measuring from the bow limbs back to where the string is held when cocked is 13 3/4'' I took this measurement with the trigger mech cocked obviously no string. The only other dimension I can think to take is the length of the cocking cable used to string and unstring the bow and it is 29''. Don't know how that could be used except the main string would have to be shorter.
I picked this bow up used with no string and sombody along the way did a camo job on it and I can't tell the brand make or model. The main thing is saftey I want the correct string and also do not want somebody to make me one custom because they make more money that way, or whatever. Thanks any help would be appreciated.
Without knowing the designed draw weight of the prod, the only method that really works is not safe. All you can do is approximate the pull and hope you don't go over.
My suggestion would be first, use some turpentine and see if you can find a maker/model under that paint?
My second suggestion would be take it to the shop and ask for a stock string. It'll cost $5. It's only a guess, but they'll be able to guess closer than you or I chatting in text.
