Enamel model paints for custom 360 controller?

Will brush-painting an xbox 360 controller with enamel paints (the sort used for models e.g. airfix) give a good finish? I am thinking of painting an arctic camo scheme - incorporating the existing white background into this. If not, would acryllic paints be better? Also, what kind of varnish should I use to improve the finish?

I have used Humbrol enamel paints for years and have found them to be superb.

Coincidentally, I tried my first ever acryllic paint only a few weeks ago. It was crap!

However, you will need to either undercoat it, and/or make sure grease/sweat from your hands is not on there before painting: use a cloth and some white spirit (buy some, you will regret it if you get it on anything and can't get it off because of not having any - you'll also need some to clean the brush, as you will probably need 2 coats of the colour you want).

Use Hum,brol clear gloss (no.35) for the "varnish" (it will yellow if you have any white or cream showing, but the yellowing won't show on other colours) Or use Humbrol Clear Cote (glass jar). It's very thick & difficult to apply. Thin it with some white spirit.

Personally, I don't think you need varnish, especially if you use Humbrol gloss paint.
