More Info On Expandable Broadheads:
The New Technology in Broadheads
Expandable Broad heads are the latest thing in broad head technology and Rage Broad heads are leading the charge. They mark a new era in the performance of broad heads and are revolutionizing the way that we use broad heads. The design of the new Rage Broad heads translates into better cutting diameter and straighter impacts, and that means a more effective shot.
Advanced Deployment Systems
The deployment system used by the new collection of Rage Broad heads is called the Slip Cam Rear Blade Deployment System. The blades are attached to the broad head facing backwards and they will deploy upon impacting the target. Unlike the conventional broad heads, the rear blade deployment occurs outside the target as the tip strikes the target. This offers an advantage over the older systems. When the broad head enters the target it is fully deployed and this means increased effectiveness.
Shock Absorption in the Broad head
Expandable broad head systems have been around for a while, but the Rage Broadhead system offers an upgraded method of deployment that will increase the cutting diameter and cutting power of the shot. Conventional broadheads have the blades facing forward, and the deployment occurs when the shot is inside the target. This can mean that they can suffer from deflection and do not always deploy as intended. The Rage Broadheads have the blades arranged in a backward facing position during flight, and are deployed upon impacting the target. One of the biggest advantages to this setup is that the deployment happening outside the target means that full deployment happens every time. The full deployment means that the wound channel is larger and this causes a better blood trail. It also means that the target is killed more quickly and effectively. Faster kills are more ethical and mean less lost equipment and searching for game after the shot. With the wound channel twice as large as the conventional type, your kill ratio will improve.
No More Rubber Bands
The mechanism used in the Rage Broadheads does not use the same rubber band system that the conventional broadheads rely on. The locking system of the Rage Broadheads holds the backward facing blades in place until impact is made. If you have used the conventional types you have probably spent some time searching for rubber bands and trying to put them back on the broadhead out in the field. This is not a fun way to spend your time when you are out hunting. The Rage Broadheads also use an O-Ring absorber that reduces the shock of impact from a hit. If you are to make contact with a bone, which happens often, this will mitigate the force of the impact and mean that the Rage Broadheads can be used again and again.
Reduced Deflection
When using conventional broadheads, deflection can occur when the target is hit. The Rage Broadheads make an initial incision and is then followed by the fully deployed rear facing blades. This translates into a straighter wound channel and at the same time a wider wound channel. Because there is a reduced loss of kinetic energy from the blades deployed outside the target, a more accurate and straighter shot results. The difference is incredible, and the game has certainly changed due to the new Rage Broadheads.

Expandable or fixed broadheads?
Last season was my first bow hunting. I used the Montec fixed blade broadheads by G5. I thought they did a nice job. I have heard from a couple people that if you shoot over 275 fps, mine is at 319 fps, you should be using expandable broadheads. Wondering if there is any reason other than personal preference to it? Thanks
country cutie, I hate to disagree with you because you have left good answers on some of my questions. But expandables are not always faster kills. if the blades don't open properly, you may only wound the animal. I use only fixed blade broadheads. I leave no room for error. the blades will cut. not maybe. I prefer the Muzzy mx3. But that's just my opinion. and as for flying like field points, you should tune the bow to shoot the broadheads that you plan to use.
