Archery: Left or right-handed bow?

I have recently taken up archery, but I'm having a little trouble with eye dominance vs. hand dominance. I am right-handed, and according to everyone's little tricks to figure out eye dominance, I am also right-eye dominant. The problem is that the eyesight in my right eye is much poorer than in my left eye. I was told that I should use a left-handed bow because that person thought I was left-eye dominant, but now I am unsure. I need to pick one or the other so I can continue practicing. To sum it up: right-handed, right-eye dominant with poor eyesight in that eye.

Deciding to shot right handed or left handed is usually dependent on eye dominance. Now if you are right eye dominate then shooting right handed will be easier to succeed at because you will be able to shoot with both eyes open and that will remove distractions. But since your right eye is weaker you have two choices when it comes to shooting left handed. The first is dependent on if you can close your right eye while being able to keep your left eye open. About twenty percent of archers at my range are now able to close their dominate eye without their other eye closing partially or completely. If you can't close your right eye your other choice is using an eye patch while shooting left handed to cover your right eye. It is important to close the right eye while shooting left handed because the dominate eye will distort your accuracy by making you shoot to the left of your intended target.
Now it will be easier to start with a left handed bow because of your inexperience. You probably haven't built up your archery muscles yet and drawing back the bow left handed will not be as difficult for you, unlike a person who has been shooting right handed for years.
