Archery(north Carolina)?
i'm fifteen and have recently taken up an interest in archery. I would love to be able to do this. I want something with a little challenge that will keep me occupied throughout. I want to use a traditional bow. I thought longbows would be cool, but i can't find anywhere to buy them from. At dicks sporting goods they have traditional ones. but they are expensive!! And i haven't even looked at the prices for arrows or anything yet!! so, if someone could provide me with the hunting laws. and other information such as time and practice. would be greatly appreciated
I'm a fifteen year old north-carolinian myself...wow, haha. As far as hunting, I have no clue, only that there are certain seasons that you are allowed to hunt in and even then only certain areas. I just use my bow for target practice. I have a Micro Midas 3 compound hunting bow but I just shoot at a hay bale. Honestly it's a great bow, I love it a lot. You are going to want to invest your money in good arrows. I have some cheap metal ones and they are now bent from firing which majorly affects the flight path. Also, put a good base around the arrow before you pull it out of whatever it's stuck in and pull it out STRAIGHT to make sure it does not get bent. The longbows are very expensive. My opinion on the matter is that if you aren't going to get a compound bow, then you are going to want to get a nice sturdy wooden one, preferably made out of yew. So basically just try to make a smart investment. Don't waste your money buying a bent piece of wood with a guitar string...do your research and get quality, even if it does cost a bit much. You won't be disappointed in the long run. I love my Micro Midas 3, it shoots very well, has great power, and I have never had any complications with it.
