More Info On Orange Bow:

Orange pomanders fill the house with a delicious scent, are satisfying to make and very pretty to look at. If you are looking for a quick and easy craft, with supermarket ingredients, try method 1 below. For a more traditional, longer lasting pomander, try method 2.
Method 1 - short-term pomanders
Choose a number of thin-skinned oranges. Using a large darning needle, prick a design on the oranges. A large-spaced random design works well, as does a double row of holes around the middle of an orange. Push a clove into each hole. Arrange in a bowl or glass vase and enjoy the gorgeous scent.
Idea: "Write" a letter in cloves on each orange and use to spell a Christmas word (perhaps Merry, Christmas, Yule, or Noel). Arrange the oranges on your mantlepiece, or down the center of your table, for an original and sweet-smelling display.
Method 2 - long lasting traditional pomanders
You will need:
A medium-sized thin-skinned orange
1/2 cup whole cloves
1/2 cup orris root powder
2 tablespoons cinnamon powder
1 tablespoon ground allspice
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
Roll the orange in your hands to warm it: this makes it easier to push the cloves into it. Using a large darning needle, poke holes into the orange about 1/8 inch apart, and then push a clove into each hole. A traditional pomander covers the entire orange with cloves closely, but it is easiest to work on a small area at a time.
Mix all the powders together, and roll your clove-studded orange in it, filling the spaces between the cloves as much as possible. Store carefully in a small cardboard box lined with tissue paper, and tip the extra powder on top. Keep in a warm (but not hot) dry place, such an airing cupboard, for 3 to 4 weeks. Shake off excess powder and tie a pretty ribbon around the pomander, with a bow and a loop for hanging. Any excess powder can be saved and used again.

The Essence of the Modern Martial Arts
Having an affiliation to tradition is something that is missing in the martial arts. With the recent advent of MMA, the traditions of the martial arts have largely been ignored for the value of “fighting”.
Many MMA facilities pride themselves on having a stable of fighters, yet they find that many of these fighters, go their own way, without any type of appreciation of where they trained. With this in mind, you have to wonder if you can continue the tradition of any type of art in this environment.
One of the ways to cure this ailment is to institute a belt ranking program. From there, you can start changing the culture of the school where the coach is recognized as the sensei or instructor. Having students bow before the start of class, and after, is another way to inject traditional martial arts within the culture.
The rules do not have to be so egregious where the student must call the instructor “Master”. In fact, that title should never be used in any sense, since it condones a subservient behavior that is not needed in today’s society. Having the student just call the instructor by the appropriate title is sufficient to keep a distance where respect is needed.
Unruly students need to be talked to, and if there is not a good solution, cut from the school. One bad apple can ruin the barrel, and it is true within a martial arts school. Would you have an unruly customer in your store every day? If the answer is no, then you should take the appropriate steps to have the student removed by cancelling their contracts.
At OC Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, we have a culture that has gone through changes, and has broken free of the hazards of a fighting school. Our orange county MMA program is the most respected in the area, due to the fact, that we have taken steps to keep the culture stable. Having the right instructors is also essential in this endeavor, to help shape the culture of the school. Unruly instructors maybe worse than unruly students, and this is something that management has to consider.
Having a fighter teach the class can be a hindrance, since many students are more interested in training then fighting. There are a very percentage of students who want to become professional fighters, and the ones who do, are often not the bet paying students. Ever wonder why the local karate schools are full of students?
For the MMA and BJJ owner, the challenges of having a traditional school coupled with having a profitable one is essential to keep the school growing. Making the mistake of having a pure fighting school will only cause problems within the culture, and possibly outside of the school. The techniques that we show our students can never be used for purposes other than self-defense. But, tell that to a teenager who dreams about becoming a fighter, yet barely understand the laws of society.

pink/orange/black wedding theme?
i'm curious to know what everyone thinks of a pink, orange & black wedding theme.
i was thinking..
- simple, elegant, black bridesmaids dresses.
- pink & orange bouquets.
- pink & orange colored drinks.
i'm stuck with chair covers & table linens. i don't want it to look like a halloween theme as it's going to be in the summer. i was thinking black table cloths & chair covers with pink bows & orange table linens.
i'm also stuck on the cake..
ideas would be helpful.. thanks much, xxoo
to avoid the halloween look i was advised to use a soft yellow, however i'm not convinced enough.
orange or yellow?
cool theme, sounds really nice. i reckon gerberas for flowers would be really cool, you can get some beautiful pink and orange varieties and they're really funky.
i like your idea for the tables and chairs. except why don't you try alternating between pink and orange? so have all the tables cloths and chair covers black, but have one table orange bows and table linens with pink table decorations, then the next table pink bows and table linens with orange table decorations.
i've seen something similar done before but with different colours and it looked really effective.
It's time for Andy Rautins (and Arinze Onuaku) to take that final deserved bow
Syracuse, N.Y. -- He’ll tell you that none of this has been unexpected. Not the 1,040 points. Not the near-800 assists, rebounds and steals. Not the 261 baskets from beyond the arc.
