The Proper Usage of Jewelry Making Tools
In making your own jewelry, the first things you want to prepare are your materials and tools. Many are still querying what are those tools generally needed in making jewelry, and how they can use it, or are they really important? Do they need all those tools in making jewelry? Well, occasionally it is very essential to have all those tools ready, it is much better to be well supplied always. In this piece you'll be taught about the tools in making jewelry and their correct use.
Starting to work with tools can be dangerous if you're not acquainted with them so finding some safety tips in jewelry making advice is necessary to do. Even learning an easy design like the way to make a button bracelet will need some data and safety guidelines to ensure you don't injure yourself.
Pliers - this jewelry making tool includes different sizes and styles. These are the examples of pliers : Long Flat Nose, Long Round/Flat Nose Pliers, Round Nose Pliers, Split Ring Plies, Round/Conclave Pliers, Nylon Jaws ( Flat Nose Pliers ), and Bead Crimping Pliers.
Long Flat Nose - this sort of pliers is used to form, shape, gold or straighten wire without damaging the metal itself.
Long Round Flat Nose/Flat Nose Pliers - this is used to loop, bend or coil wire or flat stock without damaging the metal.
Round Nose Pliers - this kind of pliers have two conical jaws. This is use in making loops with beading wire or other materials. The loop size is set by how far the jaws are made. If you want to make tiny loop, make it near the tip of this pliers, otherwise enormous loop is made near the hinge of the pliers.
Split Ring Pliers - this is a particular type of pliers used to hold a split ring open for connecting other elements to the ring. Simply insert the curved tip of the pliers into the ring side and by squeezing the pliers handles, it open split rings. In adding charms or beads to the ring, the curve tip securely holds the ring.
Round/Conclave Pliers - this sort of pliers is used to reshape ring shanks and it's also utilized in bending or forming wire and flat stock.
Nylon Jaws ( Flat Nose Pliers ) - this type of pliers have jaws that are made from nylon. The nylon is softer than the jewelry wire that can't make scratch or mark the jewelry wire. This is often used in straightening wire and squeezing wire parts to flatten and harden them. When straightening, the wire is pulled through the jaws of nylon jaw pliers.
Bead Crimping Pliers - this is used in squeezing tubes and beads into smoothly round shape crimps without making unwelcome sharp edges.
Cutter - example : End Cutter, Side Cutter, and jewelry Sniper.
End Cutter - the end of this cutter have jaws that are blunt with blades perpendicular to the handles. This is use in making sharp and clean cuts on wire. The blades at the end proved more cutting leverage.
Side Cutter - this kind of cutter have jaws that are pointed and angled. The angled is designed nearly parallel to the handles so the cut is created the top side of the cutter.
Jewelry Sniper - the jaws of this cutter are pointed. This is frequently used for sheet, wire and beading cord or string.

Stringing a bass guitar, bottom of string too large?
I bought new strings for my bass and the largest is .110 and the smallest is .580. In order to string the bass, the string is pushed up into a slot then pulled to the point where the little ring at the end of the string is. There is a thread or something that is wrapped around the bottom of the string and doesn't let the bottom of the string (where the ring thing is) to be pulled to the proper spot and instead it just pulls on the mass of thread at the bottom of the string. Any suggestions? Can I squeeze this bulk down with a tool (pliers?) I don't want to damage anything. Thanks for you help!
You can burn the thread with a candle so that it melts into the string. That thread is wax-based. You can't yank it with pliers because it will form a kink and damage the string. Usually, when bass players have that problem, we enlarge the hold slightly with a high speed drill. It takes a few seconds and its done.
If you want to squeeze it down, you can do that although it is limited in reducing since the string is very tightly wound.
