Is my fish dead?
This is isn't a stupid question I promise!!!!!
I just looked in my tank and saw a fish down at the bottom laying on its side not moving its mouth or gills. It was like this for a whole minute atleast, then as I went to go get my net to fish it out I saw it begin to shake! First just a little then a bit more (like a repeated quiver). Now it's not moving at all again, I would think it's dead but I want to make sure...
...is this normal when I fish dies?? To shake like that?
Sorry to say, but it probably is dead or dieing. What kind of fish is it? If you want, give it a little bit just to make sure, but if it keeps laying there, it's probably gone. I have had quite a few fish die, and i don't know if I've ever seen them shake, if they are getting ready to die, in my experience, they will be laying on the bottom and every once in a while swim a few inches and then lay on the bottom. Most of the time though i will wake up, of come home from work to find them dead. Sorry again.
