Can one be taught to speak without a Southern accent?

Actually my accent is not Southern, but Hillbilly. Anyway, I am making a recording of myself giving a sort of speech and I don't like the Hillbilly accent. I'm afraid it will make me sound less credible! I'm very proud of my region and my local culture. It's just that for this recording, I don't want my accent to draw attention away from what I'm saying.

I speak with a thick southern accent and I'm able to change my voice to make it sound as if I was a northener but I would'nt change my southern accent for nothing I'm from the south born and raised I mean cant change who you are by changing your accent if you were raised in the south and picked up the accent keep it it is who you are cant hide southern living and by the way hillbillys talk with a southern accent just have a different dialect meaning words they say are different.
