How can bow hunting be ethical when it causes the animal so much pain?

A gun, if used properly, is fairly painless. When my Mom died of cancer, she told my brother that she wished he could just shoot her, and end her pain. It's quick. When I look at the Cabela's Catalog with the pictures of the broadhead razor arrows I feel sick. If I had to die, I wouldn't mind being shot with a gun. It would be quick. But those broadhead arrows do NOT kill quickly or painlessly. The animal hemorrages to death, and bleeding to death is not an instantaneous process. And can you imagine the pain of being struck in the chest cavity with a razor sharp broadhead arrow and then bleeding to death in 2 or 3 minutes? I shoot deer. Because if I had to die, I wouldn't mind being shot. But I wouldn't want to be hit by a broadhead razor arrow. Aren't there ethical issues here?

I think its unethical. There are probably plenty of situations where gun shot wounds have caused animals a lot of pain though.
