These are just a few of the company traits that have contributed to Gerber's emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon's Gerber Advertising back in 1910, and one Christmas, he hired a local knife-maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939.It makes sense, really. An idea man gets the idea of a lifetime and turns it into a major outdoor brand--one that commands respect among knife lovers and knife makers alike. And now that same high regard is spreading in new directions, in the form of many outstanding products such as tools, personal L.E.D. lighting, and more. What's in the BoxGerber 22-41420 Gator Axe II with internal saw and nylon sheath. This manual supersedes FM 7-8, Infantry Platoon and Squad dated April 1981, as well as FM 7-70, The Light In fantry platoon and Squad dated September 1986, and is aligned with the Army's AirLand Battle doctrine. The Impossible Bow: Building Archery Bows With PVC Pipe
Sale Price: $16.89
|
|
|
Archery is almost as old as mankind itself, manifesting in almost every culture and on almost every continent. It is in many ways our link to the past and the stepping stone into another age. It is one of the few ancient pastimes that are still relevant today. Yet nowadays, getting into the ancient sport of archery can be daunting for the average person with no experience or previous exposure to the subject. For many, the hefty price tags on modern bows or the seemingly impossible task of building a bow can be a surefire deterrent. Many do not want to pay the price of a decent bow to try their hand at the bow and arrow, simply to see if they enjoy it or not. If only there was a way to make a bow good enough for a beginner without expending or gambling an immense amount of time or money on it. What if you were told that there was such a bow? That hidden in the ground, in the heart of buildings, on the shelves of most hardware stores, and perhaps even in your home, there was a material that made it all possible? Would you believe it? Well it is true, and that material is PVC pipe, the white or gray plastic pipe that can be found virtually everywhere. It is possible with only a minimal investment and an hour of labor to make a fine bow for target archery that performs just as well as bows worth more than ten times as much. A bow that, if given a little more time and effort, can be made into an efficient hunting tool or serious target shooter. The Impossible Bow shows you how to construct your own PVC pipe bow, with bows ranging from the incredibly simple to the incredibly complex. Learn to build simple bows that require a minimum of tools and little time, more complex bows that can be modified to fit the target archer as well as the experienced hunter looking for more of a challenge, and finally a bow that accurately replicates the weapons of war of the steppe nomads. The best part is that even the most complex bow should cost no more than 10 dollars and be completed in a day, yet can hold up to the rigors of daily use. Don't let anything hold you back from enjoying one of man's oldest and most noble of sports. Join the backyard archery revolution with your very own bow that will defy everything you know and will baffle anyone who sees it. Join me in building an impossible bow. Author's Notes: The bows in this book are great for kids of all ages, from the young to the young at heart. Because of the ability of these bows to mimic many historical bow designs, this book is great for re-enactment archery as well as for the target archer. If made well, one design in particular works well for hunting, and can be modified to work just as well as many primitive hunting bows. This book covers how to make the generic PVC pipe bow that has been the mainstay of do-it-yourself archery for some time now, as well as a couple designs which bring out the hidden performance of PVC as a bow material. These bows also work well for survival situations and can be made small and can be kept virtually anywhere out of the sun. In the trunk of a car, in a boat, in a hunting cabin, your basement, your attic, the list goes on and on. This book goes over how to make smooth shooting bows from 30 to 70 pounds of pull that can perform well if taken care of. While they aren't top performing bows, they can certainly be used for hunting, fishing, and target archery.

More Info On Survival Archery:

Ted Nugent and Archery
Ted Nugent and Archery:
When I think about Rock 'N Roll, One of the first names I think of is Ted Nugent. Throughout the 70's and 80's “The Nudge” as he is so dearly called, Rocked the world with hits such as “Cat Scratch Fever” and the anthem of “Wang Dang Sweet Puntang”. As he got his start around the mid 70's as Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes, A lot of his material is actually written from a hunters point of view. In 1974 Ted embarked on trying to record and manage his own albums and tell his story his way. Bad management decisions didn't help in his devours one bit. Still yet a classic album was born with the title “Tooth,Fang and Claw”. In my opinion this album was his greatest work that he ever let out the studio. This was the year that his daughter Sasha was born, Hence the song “Sasha” with the lyrics “Smile, Sasha Smile, You make my life worth while”. This album also included the anthem “Great White Buffalo”. One particular favorite of mine was a song called “Living' in the Woods”, “Living' in the woods, Feeling mighty good, I feel good, I got my face in the wind baby.
This particular song was an anthem of his love of nature and of the game of hunting. “If you see me coming round, Knife in my pouch, Listen to the birds that flow down south”. Here is where we get our first real glimpse of Brother Ted as we know him today. We can also say that this is where we first get a taste of The Motor City Madman at his peak. As an Ohioan myself, I see a lot of Brother Ted in myself often. A lot of people confuse Ohio and Michigan as the Midwest, Which we don't ever consider ourselves to be in the Midwest. We do consider ourselves to be hunters, We take great pride in our hunting, Fishing and love of our rivers and woods. There is nothing like a good deer steak, Or any good wild game. This is the way that God meant for us to live, This is were Archery for a lot of us folks comes into play. There's nothing like taking down a deer or other wild game without firearms. Archery is a much more human clean way to go in for the kill. Quiet and at close range, For food, not just to kill something. This is where a lot of these so called animal rights people get off the beaten path.
The sport of Archery in hunting isn't killing, It's the art of survival and being part of the food chain. I personally don't understand how anyone can be a total vegetarian. The human body need vegetables for sure, But God meant man to eat meat.
If its only to read and study about the history of Archery.
It still holds a lot of information and learning potential for your mind to develop on something new.
Find the spirit of your next Great White Buffalo.
Get the Cat Scratch Fever, See the potential and learn about Archery today.

Green Arrow versus Hawkeye versus robin hood?
ok here the situation. Green Arrow, Hawkeye, and a modern day robin hood( black guy this time) are at a archery contest and are judges. they've been disagreening all day and their tempers have boiled over. they come to a single agreement, a 3 part battle royal. im not talking firing on a target type contest either im talking about a contest that will test all aspect of their combat skills, their agility, their survival skills, their wit, and their full on archery prowess. what would the three contest be, who would win and why.
Robin Hood and Green Arrow are both exceptional archers, but Hawkeye is a mutant. His power is enhanced vision, reflexes, speed and, depending on the writer, he's shown the ability to, well, not slow time around him, but speed his perception, giving him more time to focus on a shot. Basically, he gets his skill from his powers. I'd have to say that gives him the edge. I'd go for Green Arrow next, since his training regiem is much more intense than Robin Hood's would be, simply because Ollie will spend whatever it takes to get the best in the world to train him.
*edit* In recent years, Marvel seems to be wavering on whether or not Hawkeye is a mutant. He has been officially called that in the past, trying to differentiate him from Green Arrow, but after checking today, it seems that Marvel has reversed this decision. His status is one that has changed in the past, and may change in the future.
