Archery: Roving Marks, Flight, Popinjay, & Ski
Roving Marks
Roving Marks is maybe the oldest form of archery competition and was practiced by Henry VIII. In this type of archery, the archers shoot to a sure mark, that is sometimes a post or a flag that is used as the target. From this particular mark, the archer can once more shoot to a different mark and again to another. Like Clout Archery, ropes or ribbons are used to score the arrows. The scoring system in the Finsbury Mark awards twenty points to arrows that hit the mark exactly, twelve points for arrows that hit at intervals three feet of the mark, seven points for arrows that fall at intervals the following six feet from the three-foot mark and then three points for arrows that fall among the next 9 feet off the six-foot mark. The archer with the most points at the end of the marks is declared the winner.
Flight Archery
Flight archery could be a competition wherein the winner is declared because the one with the farthest arrow as a result of the score is determined by the sheer distance of the arrow from the shooting line. Archers shoot a range of arrows from a group shooting line. When all arrows are released, the archers move out to seek out their arrow that went the farthest and mark it with a definite marker. At the top of every spherical, the archers sit or stand close to their marked arrows while assigned judges measure the space from the shooting line. There are many classes that an archer can participate in and that they vary according to the bow technique used and its draw force.
Popinjay
Popinjay is otherwise referred to as 'Papingo' and is a type of archery that originated from shooting birds that sat on church steeples. This sport is kind of known in Belgium however not outside it. In Popinjay, archers stand inside twelve feet from the underside of a mast that's as tall as ninety feet. The archers shoot 'blunts' that are arrows with rubber caps for tips almost vertically upwards. Their target is to remove any of the picket birds on prime of the mast. These wooden birds are completely different and have their own value. On prime of the mast is one Cock value 5 points, four hens price three points every and a minimum of twenty-four chicks value one purpose each. A point is scored when the wooden bird is knocked off its perch.
Ski Archery
Ski Archery may be a fashionable type of archery that's quite almost like a Biathlon however the players use recurve bows rather than guns. Obviously, the archers are needed to ski around a predetermined cross-country track. But, there are two specific stances in that each archer is needed to shoot the targets: one is kneeling and the other is standing. In any course of the competition, the archers are prohibited from removing their skis; but they will unfasten their ski to permit shooting in a kneeling position as long as their foot is kept in reality with the ski. The target range is 18 meters and also the target size is solely sixteen cm in diameter. In some competitions, when an archer misses a target, he's punished by having him ski a penalty loop that's 150 meters long.

Buying a wooden bow that has performance.?
I want to get into archery but don't want a compound bow.
I need a wooden bow (Doesn't matter if it's a recurve, longbow, or any other) that can preform as high as my skills will go. Straight shooting and power would be some things I would look at.
To fit my budget I need somthing under $500
I just bought a custom long bow made to my exact specifications by www.mahaskacustombows.com he did an awsome job, it's beautiful and smooth shooting, and it cost right around your budget price. It is worth every penny to have one made to fit your style, if you go to the website you can pick the weight, type of grip, style of bow even the type of wood you want. I paid an evtra $30.00 to get a cocobolo handle, and shipping was included. This guy is the real deal and very trustworthy. If you order a bow tell him the guy from Windsor sent you, I've never actually called him back up to tell him how awsome my bow is.
