Carbon footprint of Easter Eggs?
Someone bought me a big Cadbury Flake theme egg (you can get Mars, Snickers, Manchester United, even Harry Potter themed eggs).
I was amazed at the amount of packaging!
The egg was wrapped in coloured foil, placed in a plastic container (also housing a pack of 3 wrapped flakes) and all wrapped in themed cardboard.
These supermarkets bang on about being green.
. . . when it suits them!
Should "Easter" be re-named "Eater"?
Some offer them with reduced packaging, because they know they will sell, Cadbury say this has saved 2000 trees.
So, here we are 2000+ years since the Son of Man died on a tree to save man and man is introducing Easter to the kids by trying to save trees.

Ah this is true, but couldnt you say the same about other celebrations? Like christmas, thanksgiving, etc, think about how many turkeys/chickens are bred to be slaughtered for that day, think about all that wrapping paper that is made for christmas, all the boxes and packaging gifts come in.
These celebrations are all meant to be in good faith, but instead of having all these traditions, we should all think about the impact their having to the earth and its beings. How much do you think the people in other countries are paid for producing the cocoa for these easter eggs, probaly not much, none of the eggs say anything about fairtrade so i can only imagine they are not.
When i was little i used to use the boxies and plastic to make beds for my teddy bears. (: & you can use the chocolate you dont eat by melting it down and making all sorts of treats like cakes etc. Yay, recycling. (:
